Due to ‘tough’ market conditions, online discount grocer Motatos has closed its store in the United Kingdom just one year after its first appearance in June 2022.
Peter Beckius, CEO of Motatos, told The Grocer, “It wasn’t easy to decide to leave the UK market, especially since customers and partners have been so helpful.”
“You’ll have to keep fighting food waste without us because we have to give up this time and leave you.” We will still be in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany, and Austria, though, if you ever happen to be there.
Brands like Heinz, Cadbury, Kellogg’s, and Walkers have contributed over a thousand tonnes of food and consumer goods to Motatos’s UK circulation since the platform’s start a year ago.
